Eichler properties like that of Tracy Gibbons, feature glass walls, post-and-beam construction, open floor plans and A-frame roofs.

Visionary developer Joe Eichler and dentist Barry Gordon would sit in the courtyard of Gordon’s Los Altos home, smoke cigars and talk mid-century architecture.

“Barry was a frustrated architect,’’ Margot Gordon commented of her late husband. “He just loved to talk to Joe.”

Their property of 48 years is the first one “Joe” built on Clay Dr. in the Fallen Leaf Park neighborhood. Today there are 37 Eichlers in the neighborhood, a total of fifty in Los Altos.

“Joe often would come by with his cigar,” Margot recalled.
